ASCET: Model-based Development of Application Software – mastering in real time

Challenge

Electronic controls, functions, and features, such as autonomous parking, are increasingly characterizing the car of the future. According to current investigations, 90 percent of automotive innovations are in the areas of electronics and software. In order to master the complexity of the systems and the variety of drive concepts, model-based software development methods and tools have prevailed. Therefore, it is of great importance to familiarize students with this software development methodology.

Solution

The ASCET family of products enables model-based application software development and automatic code generation from these models. ASCET has been specially designed to meet the specific automotive requirements of complex embedded software with real-time, efficiency and security constraints. From the first component design by means of block diagrams and state machines to the automatic generation of the code for the microcontroller system, the ASCET components fit seamlessly into the processes.

Benefit

With ASCET, ETAS supports universities in the development of control strategies at the physical level. Switching from manual C coding to ASCET-based tool chain allows students to learn advanced development methodology with a focus on the rapid assessment of different control strategies. This allows complex open-loop and closed-loop control models to be developed by means of a block diagram, which are subsequently optimized in real-time.
