Whether it is for the communication of ECUs within a vehicle, for measurement and calibration, for ADAS functions or as a data backbone: Automotive Ethernet is the future of in-vehicle data management.
The Gigabit Automotive Ethernet media converters of the ES16x family convert Automotive Ethernet signals into standard Ethernet signals. This enables developers to read, calibrate, diagnose, and flash data from the vehicle, for example via a computer. The configuration is as simple as possible. Master-slave settings as well as speed can be set manually by the developer, but can also be carried out automatically by the ES16x modules.

ES160 Gigabit Automotive Ethernet media converter
The ES160 is designed for use on a PC. The module can convert signals point-to-point, i.e. connect a computer to an ECU or mirror port. The external power connection with banana connectors (ES160.1) or safety banana connectors (ES160.1-S) allows it to operate without having to interconnect other ETAS hardware modules. This makes the ES160 easy to integrate into any development environment.
For the connection to the Automotive Ethernet source, the ES160 uses a certified, robust LEMO connector. The speed can be set manually to 100 Mbit or 1 Gbit or determined automatically. Connection to the host is via an RJ45 connector.
ES162 Gigabit Automotive Ethernet media converter
The ES162 is designed for use with the ES800 Measurement, Calibration, and Prototyping System, including the ES820 Drive Recorder Module. The system also provides power to the ES162, which means that no additional power connection is required.
To connect to the Automotive Ethernet source, the ES162 uses a certified, robust LEMO connector. The speed can be set manually to 100 Mbit or 1 Gbit or determined automatically. The connection to the host is also established via a LEMO connector, which can be connected to a GE port.
ES165 Gigabit Automotive Ethernet media converter
The ES165 is designed for use with the ES800 Measurement, Calibration, and Prototyping System, the ES500 ECU and Bus Interface Modules and the ES600 Network Module.
For the connection to the Automotive Ethernet source, the ES165 uses a certified, robust LEMO connector. The speed can be set manually to 100 Mbit or 1 Gbit or determined automatically. The connection to the host is also established via a LEMO connector, which can be connected to a FE port.
Associated cables
In order to be perfectly adapted to their use in different environments, various cables are available for the products of the ES16x family. This allows the modules to be easily connected to both shielded and unshielded vehicle networks and XETK interfaces.
