Independently of its connection with the microcontroller, an ETK provides development and calibration tools with a powerful interface to the development ECU. Thanks to their rugged design on both the mechanical and electrical side, ETKs are fully vehicle-compatible. Operating reliably on voltages between 4.3 V and 18 V, they also tolerate short-term voltage drops. Due to their extremely compact design, ETKs can be accommodated inside the housings of production ECUs. They are impervious to the temperature extremes of winter testing and hot-weather trials at the ECU's real-life working location in the vehicle. Without requiring intermediate amplification, the ETK interface enables interference-free, high-bandwidth Ethernet data transmission at 100 Mbit/s over distances of up to 30 meters.
